Catalan president Quim Torra celebrated the withdrawal of the European arrest warrant against his predecessor Carles Puigdemont from the Spanish judiciary, as well as former ministers Meritxell Serret, Clara Ponsatí, Lluís Puig, and ERC politician Marta Rovira.

Speaking to the press on July 19, Torra called on the State, after this move by the Spanish Supreme Court, to let the imprisoned officials "come home and those in exile to return." "I want to demand responsibilities from it," he said, "and to ask it how it thinks to respond to what the European judiciary exposes, how it plans to end this arbitrariness of the Spanish justice system."
