In mid-February, the Spanish Supreme Court judge Pablo Llarena is to summon pro-independence leaders Artur Mas, Marta Pascal and Neus Lloveras (PDeCat), Marta Rovira (ERC), and Mireia Boya and Anna Gabriel (CUP) for questioning.

Judge Llarena, presiding over the separate cases against grassroots pro-independence leaders (accused of sedition) and the Catalan government (accused of rebellion, sedition, and misuse of public funds among others), also included on December 22 of last year the aforementioned politicians to be investigated in the ongoing proceedings.

Three other former MPs also testified before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, stating that they left the government for personal reasons. Jordi Jané, Neus Munté and Meritxell Ruiz all acknowledged that they voted in favour of the October 1 referendum before Llanera.

Munté stated that he was "exhausted" of being spokesman of the government, while Ruiz said he was aware of the legal repercussions and did not wish to receive penal consequences for the sake of his two children.
