Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont has requested to vote by proxy in Parliament, sources from his Junts per Catalunya (JxCat) party told Catalan News today. Other pro-independence leaders who are currently incarcerated, such as sacked Catalan vice-president Oriol Junqueras and JxCat MP Jordi Sànchez, have been allowed to vote by delegating their vote to colleagues, in previous parliamentary debates.

The Parliament Bureau, however, will not assess Puigdemont's request to delegate his vote on Wednesday, when the chamber is expected to debate, and vote a resolution to protect the political rights of all its MPs.
