The speaker of the Catalan parliament, Roger Torrent, pledged to do “everything in his power” to defend the rights of the MPs suspended by Spain’s Supreme Court. Talking to the Catalan News Agency (ACN) on Friday, Torrent said the official notification of the suspensions, which arrived on the same day as the interview took place, “said nothing" that he "did not already know.”
