Spokesperson for Ciutadans in the Catalan parliament, Carlos Carrizosa, has fired a warning shot to President Quim Torra this Sunday, saying that "he is doing the same thing as those who are now in provisional jail."

"They laugh at the legal requirements they were obliged to do, they took selfies, they broke them and presumed they could get away with it," Carrizosa said to gathered journalists in Barcelona.

Quim Torra is facing trial for disobedience in November for failing to remove banners from the balcony of the Catalan government headquarters during the last general election campaign in April.

Carrizosa's words came after Torra’s decision to leave the banner demanding the release of jailed pro-independence leaders hanging on the balcony despite last week being ordered by the Spanish High Court of Justice in Catalonia (TSJC) to withdraw it.

Carrizosa warned Torra that if he does not collect the banner they will report him again as they did in spring.
