The civic organisation Òmnium Cultural, whose president is currently jailed in Madrid under investigation for sedition, expressed its "support and commitment to the legitimate government" of Catalonia at a meeting with the Catalan president Carles Puigdemont and his ministers, all of them deposed by the Spanish government after the implementation of Article 155 of the Spanish constitution.

At a meeting in Brussels, the spokesperson of Òmnium Cultural, Marcel Mauri, stated on behalf of the members of the civil society organization and of Jordi Cuixart, its president who is currently jailed in Madrid, their "commitment, strength and determination" in defence of “the government and the future that Catalonia decides to take, always in a peaceful and non-violent way."

The members of Òmnium Cultural also explained to Puigdemont and his ministers what their plans are for the December 7 rally in Brussels. The spokesperson of the civic organization noted that "many Catalans” will travel to Brussels to denounce "the lack of freedoms in Catalonia” for the European Union to see, the imprisonment of Catalan leaders, and the enforcement of Article 155 of the Spanish Constitution".
