The leader of Cs in Catalonia, Inés Arrimadas, called for the mobilization of her party’s electorate in big cities for the local elections on May 26 to become true "bastions of the constitutionalism" so that they can "curb separatism" in city councils.

According to Arrimadas, city councils should cease to be "loudspeakers" of the independence parties.

The leader of the orange party aimed her message especially at the constitutionalist socialist voter and warned that betting on the Socialists in the upcoming local elections can lead to post-election agreements with the pro-independence Esquerra party.

"The only guarantee that mayors do not depend on them is vote Ciutadans," she said. Arrimadas is confident that the "spearhead" of the constitutionalist force of will be the "tandem" of Manuel Valls and Miguel Garcia in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat respectively.
