It's going to be an intense night in Catalonia. After a dramatic day of events, President Carles Puigdemont finally decided not to call an early election. Parliament is meeting and a declaration of independence is back on the table: not clear, however, with which kind of support. Puigdemont admitted he tried to negotiate a way out of the unprecedented political crisis between Catalonia and Spain but accused Madrid of acting irresponsibly and not being willing to guarantee that calling snap elections would stop the intervention of self-government. Socialists in Spain, the main opposition party, had promised so, but the People's Party, with a majority in the Senate, said it would go ahead anyway. / ACN
