Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia church, by famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, is the ninth most photographed European tourist site on Instagram. That is according to a ranking of Europe’s most Instagrammable spots from Citybase Apartments. In its report, the firm says that the Sagrada Familia clocked up 1,352,523 hashtags on the popular photo app.

Despite making the top 10, Barcelona’s main tourist spot had some stiff competition, with the first three positions on the list taken by the Eiffel Tower (4,615,849 hashtags), London’s Big Ben (2,839,422) and Disneyland Paris (2,568,554). As for elsewhere in Spain, the Alhambra palace in Granada made 11th place, with 1,043,265 hashtags.

While the ranking of Europe’s 30 most Instagrammed tourist attractions includes landmarks all over Europe, from Germany and Russia to Italy and Turkey, it is the UK and France that have the most entries. Three of the top 10 are in London (Big Ben, London Eye and Tower Bridge), while 23% of the hashtagged attractions are in France, with four of them in the top 10.

Other popular sights in the ranking include the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Vatican City, and Moscow's Red Square, which fell two places short of the top ten.
