New agreement with tour operator to increase the number of Russian tourists in the Ebro Delta

The Catalan coastal town of Sant Carles de la Ràpita has signed a collaboration agreement with the tour operator Coral Travel. The Russian company is already working in the Alfacs bay, a quiet area perfect for water sports. With this new agreement, the number of Russian tourists is expected to increase by 50% and twenty companies will benefit. The tourists can enjoy a wide range of activities such as boat rentals, fishing or sampling the various traditional dishes of the Ebro Delta, for example seafood paella. Moreover, all of these activities can be combined with cultural activities around the Ebro area, in southern Catalonia.

Barcelona (ACN).- Although suffering from the economic crisis, the Catalan tourist sector has found a new market: Russian tourism. The latest initiative is in the south of Catalonia, Sant Carles de la Ràpita, where the coastal town has signed a collaboration agreement with the tour operator Coral Travel. The objective is to increase the number of visitors from Russia and introduce them to Catalonia and Catalan culture. Boat rentals, fishing and sampling the various traditional dishes are some of the activities that this Ebro Delta town is offering. With this new agreement with Coral Travel - who is already working in Alfacs Bay (a quiet area perfect for practicing water sports) - the number of Russian tourists is expected to increase by 50% and twenty companies will benefit.

Sant Carles de la Ràpita is a town situated in the Alfacs bay in the south of the Ebro Delta Natural Park. Its seafront offers a wide range of activities and services such as moorings, kayaking, paddle-boarding, kite surfing, boat rentals, fishing, scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing and motor and sail boating. These water sports can also be combined with cultural activities to discover the Ebro Delta, for example tasting typical dishes of the area (such as seafood paella), ecotourism or sports such as cycling, adventure sports, quad biking and horse riding.

The seafront and the Town Hall of Sant Carles de la Ràpita have commended the initiative that started in 2011 to attract visitors from Russia as it undoubtedly helps with the current crisis with the domestic market.

70% of the Russian tourists that visit Spain travel to Catalonia. Thus, Russia has become the sixth most important market for tourism in Catalonia, moving four positions in just one year. In Costa Daurada, 40% of Russian tourists stay in hotels, filling the gap in the domestic market.

20 years of experience worldwide

The new tour operator, Coral Travel – Viajes Olimpia, has worked in the area through its representative in Spain, M. Gökhan Baser, who highlighted the company’s willingness to collaborate with the area. Coral Travel has more than 20 years of experience worldwide and is internationally one of the leading companies of Russian tourism.
