Falset (ACN).- Catalan wines and cellars will be on display in New York on Tuesday June 5th in order to find new distributors within the American market. In an event organised at The Carriage House, from the Gabarrón Foundation, more than 120 American wine importers and traders will have the opportunity to discover wines from Catalonia. The platform ‘Catalan Wines USA’ offers the cellars both commercial and logistical services in the United States, a formula that will enable Catalan wine-makers to serve their American clients immediately after the first orders received. Several Catalan cellars participate in this event, belonging to different wine appellations from Catalonia (called ‘DO’ in Catalan). In relation to last year’s edition, the participation of cellars in this year’s Catalan Wines USA has increased by 40%. After New York, the Catalan red, white and cava wines will be displayed in Seattle (October 2012), Dallas (February 2013), and Los Angeles (June 2013).

Some of the participating cellars are Agnès De Cervera (DO Priorat); Canals i Munné (DO Cava); El Grial (DO Catalunya); Mas Codina (DO Penedès & Cava); Miquel Pons (DO Penedès & Cava); Agrícola Falset-Marçà (DO Montsant) and Mayol Viticultors (DO Priorat).

Since the platform ‘Catalan Wines USA’ was created 2 years ago, around 20 cellars from Catalonia have used it to sell their products in the United States. More than 30 commercial agreements have been reached with different US wine traders and distributors, serving 7 different states. The platform has been assisted by ACC1Ó, the Catalan Government’s agency for the internationalisation of Catalan companies and to foster foreign investment in Catalonia.
