A European taxi association has denounced the violence by some cab drivers in Barcelona during their recent protests against the proposed regulation of ride-hailing services, such as Uber and Cabify.

The Taxi Europe Alliance (TEA), which represents the taxi sector at a European level, said it "distances itself from and condemns the cases of violence that are unfortunately ongoing."

TEA representative Emiliano Alonso told the Catalan News Agency (ACN) that the association that represents almost 100,000 taxi drivers in Europe is "extremely concerned" about what is happening in Barcelona.
