Veteran comedy trio bid farewell to the stage
El Tricicle celebrate 40 years of performing live with show 'Hits' at Barcelona's Teatre Victòria until February, followed by tour of Catalan cities
Veteran comedy trio El Tricicle, have decided it is time to retire from performing on stage. The popular theater company made up of Joan Gràcia, Paco Mir and Carles Sans will bid farewell to live performing with their show 'Hits,' from October 11 to February 24.
'Hits,' which brings together some of the trio's best all-time comedy sketches, can be seen at Barcelona's Teatre Victòria before it then goes on a farewell tour of different Catalan cities until November 2019.
"The rhythm will be frenetic. It will be the best show we have ever done,"

El Tricicle have timed their retirement from the stage to coincide with their 40th anniversary, although the actors told the Catalan News Agency (ACN) that they still "want to continue doing things but just not on stage."
"Nostalgia and sadness"
While they admit that giving up stage performance will make them feel "nostalgia and sadness," they are also looking forward to new projects, such as their plans to set up a new Tricicle made up of young actors.
'Hits' features 12 of the company's best sketches, with a finale that also brings together other comedy fragments. "The rhythm will be frenetic. It will be the best show we have ever done," said Gràcia in presenting the show at the Teatre Victòria.
Nor was the Teatre Victòria chosen at random to host the show, as it was the venue where the trio established themselves as a company, with the show 'Slastic' in 1986, although they insist that 'Hits' "is 400 times" funnier.
"We aren't leaving. Artists never end. Directing, producing, writing, but more calmly," said Mir at the announcement of their decision in November. "It is a very physical type of theater and we are of a certain age. You have to do these things 'full-on'," he added.
