The No Surrender Festival in the town of Vilanova de Bellpuig, in the western region of Lleida, pays tribute to one of rock music's greats, US musician Bruce Springsteen.

This year, the festival has done something different for the 70th birthday of 'The Boss' on Monday, sending him a special video recorded at the festival's 3rd edition on June 29.

The video shows festival attendees singing Springsteen 'Happy Birthday' while holding up a banner that reads: 'Happy 70's Boss'.

According to festival organizer, Josep Maria Pons, the video is the event's way of "thanking Bruce Springsteen for his contribution and paying tribute to the participants."

Pons explained that the video was sent to the singer's wife and daughter, Springsteen's record label (Sony Music), and international fan clubs that support the event.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the video was made available on the No Surrender Festival's website, and was also distributed on social media.

Tribute to No Surrender attendees

On June 29, some 1,240 musicians together performed Springsteen's song 'Glory Days' at the festival held on the football field of the small Lleida town of Vilanova de Bellpuig.

The musicians were from different places in Spain (Catalonia, Galicia, Basque Country, Madrid, Valencia, Andalusia, Majorca), and from abroad (France, Italy, Germany, Holland, the UK, Switzerland, the US, and Australia).

This year's third edition was brought to a close with a rendition of Springsteen's 1984 hit 'No Surrender', which gives the festival its name and which has become the event's anthem.
