It’s nearly been a year since last August’s terrorist attack struck the heart of Barcelona. 15 people died on La Rambla in the centre of the Catalan capital  when they were mowed down by a van. To commemorate both them, and La Rambla where the attack took place, 50 musicians have come together to create a song.

It’s called La Rambla, and it’s a choral Catalan rumba, a genre that was developed by Catalan gypsies. “The Rambla is much more than what you see,” go the lyrics. The rumba is fused with elements of jazz, rap, and more. Adapted from a song by Dani Galiot, it is performed in Catalan, Spanish, English, Portugese, and Kombe.

"We have tried to turn this pain into something beautiful, to convey good feelings and love," said Galiot at the presentation of the song at the headquarters of the College of Journalists of Catalonia. "This song is dedicated specifically to the victims of that day but also to all other victims of terrorism," the musician pointed out.
