‘Jurrassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ a box office hit worldwide

Latest film in franchise by Catalan director J.A. Bayona is yet to be released in United States and China

The film ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ by Catalan director J.A. Bayona has proven to be a box office hit, opening its first weekend at number one in the 48 countries it  was shown. Worldwide, it made 151.1 million dollars, nearly breaking even of its 170 million dollar budget.

Bayona thanked cinema-goers via Twitter, highlighting that it was the most “successful film of the year” in Spain as a whole where it made 9.4 million dollars. The Catalan’s film also proved to be the most successful of the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise in 15 other markets around the globe.

In South Korea, ‘Fallen Kingdom’ made 27.2 million dollars, also prompting the director to show his appreciation via Twitter. “Thrilled to see how many Korean fans watched JWFK and liked the film,” he tweeted. The film is yet to be released in the United States and China.

In the latest installation of the Jurassic franchise, the dinosaurs escape the borders of the theme park, wreaking havoc throughout Isla Nubla.
