May will soon prove to be an important month for European culture in Barcelona with three prominent western European countries putting on noteworthy events:  ‘Italia Reppublica Creativa’, sponsored by the Italian Consulate, the Italian Institute of Culture of Barcelona, the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Regione Puglia, as well as the French and German Languages Days, co-organized by the Institut Français and the Goethe-Institut.

‘Italia Reppublica Creativa’

Kicking off first is ‘Italia Reppublica Creativa,’ which from May 14 to June 18 will see various photo, film and music exhibits, shows and installations taking place in honor of the Italian Republic Day on June 2. As this year’s regional protagonist is Puglia, they will mainly portray Italy through an Apulian lens.

These events will be held at many of Barcelona’s emblematic sites, such as the Filmoteca, the Enric Miralles Foundation, the Italian Institute of Culture of Barcelona or Casa degli Italiani.

French and German Language Days

Next up is the two-day French and German Language Days event organized by prominent French and German cultural institutions in Barcelona.

On May 17 and 18, germanophiles and francophiles alike will be able to learn about the courses these centers offer, assess their language comprehension levels or attend conferences about interesting German and French cultural phenomena, among other activities.

Attendees even have the chance to win a French or German course by participating in the event’s Instagram contest and submitting their best picture of either the Goethe-Institut or the Institut Français.
