Operación Triunfo talent show contestant, the Catalan singer Alfred García, will be one of the artists playing at the Acústica music festival, which begins on Thursday and lasts until Sunday.

The event held in the northern city of Figueres offers some 40 free concerts in several venues in the city, with several top Catalan bands taking part, including Love of Lesbian, Mishima and Els Catarres.

However, the young star Alfred, who represented Spain in the 2018 Eurovision song contest, will also feature in what will be "one of his first solo concerts" since the talent show came to an end. In the Eurovision he performed the song 'Tu canción' along with Navarrese singer, Amaia Romero, his current partner and also an Operación Triunfo (OT) participant.

Most of Alfred’s concerts so far have been with other members of the popular talent show.

In an interview with the Catalan News Agency, Alfred claims that "taking advantage of the current media moment would not be a very honest option." He also said that he is doing some gigs before releasing his new album so as to "get people’s feedback."

"I have pursued my dream, but if I had not entered OT, my moment would have arrived anyway, as the songs were already there," he added.

During the interview, Alfred said that the lyrics of his songs are unique and not similar to those of any other artist. Nevertheless, his new album, '1016', which he composed and produced himself, will be reminiscent of the music of John Mayer, Leiva and the Chilean band, No te va a gustar.

Acústica, more than music

Alfred will be part of Acústica, a 17-year-old festival that has more than just concerts to offer across the city of Figueres. There will also be food trucks, and the Acústica Market, a space in which young fashion designers will be able to show off their work and sell their designs to the public.
