Isabella Rossellini loves animals – so much so, that the internationally acclaimed actress and model has based her second theater performance around them.

Called ‘Link Link Circus,’ the one-woman show will debut on Wednesday, March 15, at the Teatre Akadèmia theater. The monologue-based performance will last ten days until March 25, showcasing a narrative inspired by the animal world.

Worldwide animal circus

Indeed, a canine character – called ‘Pan’ – will also take to the stage as an occasional actor, standing in for other animals. As its name suggests, ‘Link Link’ also draws heavily from the circus influences, giving a window into the world of our four-legged friends based on scientific facts but through the lens of comedy.

Opening night for ‘Link Link Circus’ is already sold out, leading the venue to announce that they will increase audience capacity. After the premier in Barcelona, the show will start a world tour, with stops in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, São Paulo and London. This follows the international success of Rossellini’s ‘Green Porno’ performance, based on a series of videos produced by the Sundance Channel.

A famed family

Rossellini gained prominence through a modeling career, acting, and even writing. She also comes from an illustrious cinema background, daughter to neorealist cinema giant Roberto Rossellini and film starlet Ingrid Bergman. The younger Rossellini defined her role in her multifaceted pursuits as that of an “environmental artist.”

But, she explained that while there are indeed sad stories dealing with animal abuse, she wanted her play to leave the audience “happy.” “The idea isn’t to deal with animal abuse but rather to show this fascinating world,” explained Rossellini in a press conference.  “There is,” she continued, “this secret wish to make people fall in love with animals, so they will treat them good.”
