'Unacceptable from a human rights perspective,' say international observers about trial

"The way the president is chairing this court and the attitude towards the defense, that seems unacceptable from a human rights perspective," says Daniel Turp, a professor from the Université de Montreal attending the Catalan trial hearings.

Stéfanie Tougas, the secretary of Québec's Research Institute on Self-Determination of Peoples and National Independence (IRAI), said: "From a Quebecer and Canadian point of view, that there was no possibility of bail, the conditions in which they are imprisoned, and each day they have to do an hour, an hour and a half to go to court and then come back. We are raising that issue and it’s gonna be part of our report."
/ ACN
