The Catalan News Agency (ACN) will host a press conference with Jordi Sànchez, a pro-independence activist running in the Spanish general election from prison, via videolink on Sunday.

Imprisoned for a year and a half for his role in Catalonia’s push for independence, Sànchez is the top candidate in the April 28 election for Junts per Catalunya (JxCat), the party founded by former president Carles Puigdemont.

Currently facing trial in Spain’s Supreme Court along with 11 other politicians and activists, Sànchez is accused of violent rebellion for leading pro-independence protests as the former president of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC).
