Day 33 of the Catalan trial is underway at the Supreme Court in Madrid with more Spanish police officers giving their testimonies.

The witnesses are talking about their experience on referendum day in 2017, including alleged violence by voters.

Like their colleagues have been doing in the past few weeks, the Spanish police officers testifying are accusing their Catalan counterparts of inaction. "Whenever they saw us, they reported our arrival to someone and then left," said one member of Spain's law enforcement.

Officers also denied all accusations of police use of force being disproportionate, and some even claimed that their operation to stop the referendum was "exemplary."
