<p>Electing a president at a distance: this is the aim of a new law passed today by the Catalan Parliament that is setting the pro-independence majority on collision course with the Spanish government once again, with the deadline of May 22 to form a new government looming. The vote sparked outrage amongst unionist parties during a plenary session in which Europe, women's rights and the Catalan leaders in prison were also discussed.
