The multinational American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM) is to invest 20 million euros in a new plant in Viladecans, outside of Barcelona.

A global leader in the manufacturing of various vehicle and lorry components, the company will build the new facility in the Ca n’Alemany industrial estate, half an hour away from the Catalan capital.

It will focus on the production of shock absorbers for engines by leading car manufacturers such as Renault, BMW, and Porsche, among others. It is forecast to be up and running by January 2019.

AMM is one of the main global companies in the design, engineering, and production of transmission systems, metal forming, management systems, and casting technologies for automotive, commercial and industrial markets.

With its headquarters in Detroit, the multinational has 90 facilities in 17 different countries, and more than 25,000 employees.
