International tourists visiting Catalonia last February up 2.8% from 2017

More than a million international tourists—1,016,409 people in total—visited Catalonia last February,  a 2.8% increase in comparison with the same period last year, according to Spain’s Frontur survey.

Catalonia accounted for almost one fourth of all travelers who visited Spain last month. In total, some 4.2 million people visited the state, a 2.6% increase from last year.

During the first two months of 2018, the number of international visitors rose to 8.3 million people and increased 3.9% from last year.

France remained as the main country of origin, accounting for a 21% of the total arrivals in Catalonia. In Spain as a whole, the United Kingdom topped the list with 20.5% of the visitors, a 5.9% decrease from February 2017.
