The future of a long-planned massive leisure and gambling complex on Catalonia’s southern coast is clearer now: Hard Rock International will be in charge of making this project a reality, the Catalan authorities announced on Friday. The American developer of  themed restaurants, hotels and casinos was the only firm in the tender to present all the necessary documentation and fulfil all the requirements by the deadline of Friday 2pm local time.

The details of the project will be unveiled on July 10, said Catalan treasury secretary, Lluís Salvadó, while the government will have to decide on the specific proposal by September 11. Nevertheless, it is expected that the complex will include a casino, hotels, entertainment areas, theaters, shops and a convention centre, with the maximum height of the buildings set at 75 meters. After the success of its bid was made public, Hard Rock International announced that the initiative will generate thousands of new jobs, significant foreign investment and millions of euros in revenue.
