The Barcelona Trade Fair registered a turnover of 187.6 million euros in 2017, 12% more than the previous year, and up by 25% when compared to 2015.

“This is a growth that has exceeded our expectations, and is the result of the good work done,” said the general director of the organization, Constantí Serrallonga. He explained that more than 140 congresses and other events were held throughout the year, with more than 1,000 activities.

According to Serrallonga, the ongoing political instability, that reached crisis point in the final quarter of 2017, has not had any effect on business. He confirmed that there were “no cancellations” even in the months of September, October and November.

Looking to the future, the general director remains optimistic and hopes to achieve a turnover of 190 million euros in 2018.

Mobile World Congress

The next major event to be held at the trade fair will be the Mobile World Congress, kicking off on February 26.

The annual event is at the forefront of the mobile industry, and is expected to draw in around 110,000 attendees this year, surpassing previous editions.
