The Barcelona-based online travel company eDreams expects to create 150 more jobs in the Catalan capital this year.

It closed its tax year at the end of March with 19.7 million euros net profit, 88% more than the 10.5 million euros of net profit in 2017. In total, eDreams turned over 508.6 million euros, marking an increase of 5%.

On Wednesday, the company’s CEO Dana Dunne announced that this tax year it will invest 30 million euros in growth.

Fall in shares

However, the market did not receive the results of eDreams’ last tax year in a positive light, and its shares fell by 14%. Despite the 5% increase in turnover, the firm’s EBITDA fell by 1%.

With regard to the forecasts of the next fiscal year, Dunne said that the turnover of 508 million euros will be bettered. He also said that the adjusted EBITDA, set at 118 million euros in 2018, will increase to between 130 and 145 million euros by 2020.

eDreams operates in 43 countries around the world, with 1,700 employees in total, 1,000 of whom work in Barcelona.
