A video game by Barcelona studio Open House Games took home gold, winning best video game at the 2018 5th edition PlayStation Awards on Wednesday. In total, 7 awards were given out to independent Spanish studios.  

The game ‘A Tale of Paper’ is a story in which the player goes through as Paperboy, an origami child brought to life, whose mission is to fulfill the dream of his creator – one which the player discovers throughout the various perils and challenges of the game. Want to give it a try? The game will come out through SIE Spain in 2019 for PlayStation 4.

“A different and very moving video game” wins big

The jury chose ‘A Tale of Paper’ due to its Innovation, creativity, talent and specific story, which creates a different and very moving video game,” according to Liliana Laporte, of PlayStation Iberia.

The team behind the winning game, based in Barcelona, is made up three people, including programmers, designers, artists, and animators. They will now have access to their own space in one of the PlayStation Talents Games Camp in Spain to develop the project, as well as receiving €10,000 cash to finance the project, a marketing campaign worth hundreds of thousands, and more.
