Barcelona (ACN).- Over 4,000 people have visited the 27th edition of the World Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS27), the main international congress and trade fair in this sector. It was held from the 17th to the 20th of November in the Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona. According to the organisers, this year’s edition – which took place in the Catalan capital for the first time – was “the most successful” and “the most international” with attendees from 58 countries, 1,300 delegates and 232 exhibitors. During the fair, the major brands exhibited their new electric models like the Nissan Leaf, the BMW i3, the Volkswagen E- UP! or the Renault ZOE. Meanwhile, the World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA) awarded on Wednesday afternoon the E- Visionary Prize, acknowledging the three most sustainable urban environments in the world. Malaga (Spain), Indianapolis (US) and the Japanese Goto islands were distinguished.

The E-Visionary Prize acknowledges the efforts of the regions or territories which are pioneers in developing initiatives promoting the electric vehicles as an alternative sustainable transport. Each year, the WEVA award distinguishes three cities: one in Europe, one in America, and one in Asia.

During the fair, the major brands exhibited their new electric models like the Nissan Leaf, the BMW i3, the Volkswagen E- UP! or the Renault ZOE. Director of the EVS27, Adriana del Solar, stated: “This year’s event marks a turning point in a sector which showed it had a bright future ahead of it, and which has attracted great international interest during this edition”.

The EVS is considered the most important fair in the electric transportation industry at international level. Barcelona has hosted it for the very first time after an intensive competition with other cities, such as Paris or Geneva. The next edition, the EVS28 will take place in the Korean city of Goyang from the 3rd to the 6th of May 2015.Hide Keyboard
