The tourism trade fair B-Travel has returned to Barcelona on Friday. As well as the usual offerings of tourism experiences and travel bookings, there was also a space dedicated to professionals at this year’s edition. In collaboration with Mobile World Capital Barcelona, this part of the fair is presenting initiatives from 15 start-ups to encourage the debate on innovation and technological trends applied to the tourism industry.

According to B-Travel’s president, Jordi Clos, this new proposal will imply an “extraordinary growth” for the fair in future editions. “Next year we will have the most advanced platforms in the world,” he said.

Clos also stated that this year there is more “quality” on offer, with more than 40 international destinations and all the autonomous regions. Some of the highlights among these holiday locations were the United States, Japan, Scotland, and Ireland. Other familiar countries at the fair include Italy, France, Peru, and India.

B-Travel’s president also highlighted how the 26th edition of B-Travel is taking place at an “extraordinary moment” with regard to the “recovery” of the tourism sector after the “crisis” of the last quarter of 2017.

For the travel agency Incredible India, it was the fifth time exhibiting at the tourism trade fair. The company’s president highlighted a trend among Catalans to take holidays during the summer months. “The Catalan public is now getting holiday packages for July, August, and September,” said Narender Singh. He highlighted how every year he makes the most of the fair to sell trips directly to Catalan tourists “without intermediaries” as it is “more economic.”

It continues until April 22 at the Fira de Barcelona.
