Madrid (ACN).- According to the Spanish Institute of Statistics, last September prices in Catalonia were 2.4% higher than a year before. However, the trend of inflation increase has slowed down compared to August due to a decrease in prices of organised trips. These levels of inflation have not been recorded since November 2008. In the whole of Spain, the annual inflation rate last September was 2.1%. Prices increased by 0.1% in relation to August. The products that most contributed to the price increase were fuel, hotels and restaurants.

The Catalan inflation rate is slightly higher than the Spanish average, set at 2.1%, and the Eurozone’s forecast is 2%. Among Catalan territories with a higher inflation rate, Girona is in the lead with 2.8%. In Barcelona, the annual inflation rate was 2.3%, in Lleida, 2.4% and in Tarragona, 2.2%.

The annual subjacent inflation rate, which does not take into account the price of fuels and fresh food, was 1.1% in September, a decimal higher than in August.
