9% more new companies created in Catalonia in 2011

Madrid (ACN).- In 2011, 15,644 new companies were created in Catalonia, according to the Spanish National Institute of Statistics (INE), which has released the information on Monday. This figure represents an 8.76% increase compared to 2010 figures. For Spain as a whole, 6% more companies were created in 2011, confirming the dynamism of the Catalan economy compared to the Spanish average. In the same report, the INE also gave figures on companies that shut down for business or were dissolved. In Catalonia, 2,639 companies ended their activity in 2011, which represents a 3.17% increase compared to 2010. In Spain as a whole, 6.7% more companies were dissolved in 2011.
