9-May-24: 'BBVA launches hostile takeover bid for Banc Sabadell'
Spain's BBVA bank launched a hostile takeover bid to take control of Banc Sabadell after the board of the Catalan bank rejected an offer earlier this week. The next steps will depend on Banc Sabadell's shareholders, who control more than 5 billion shares, however, the Spanish and Catalan governments have already expressed their rejection of the bid. The offer includes a 30% premium per share and a total commitment to Catalonia.
